Formula Renault exist since 1971 in national championships and with different chassis producers. The Eurocup was developed in 1973 to arouse interest of F3 or F3000-series manager on a international high level, which applies as step to F1 Königsklasse.

After now 3 decades, Renault Sport decided to change the liked series on a large scale. The unit chassis of FR2000 was designed by Tatuus, a long standing Renault Sport partner. Most modern technology and high safety standards honour the stylish racing car. Besides, Renault tries to keep the prices attractive. That makes the big interest in the new unit series clear, which shows many fully occupied championship: France, Great Britain, Italy, Germany, Denmark, Netherlands, Switzerland, China, Malaysia, Brazil and Mexico.

2002/2003 the formula Renault 2000 Chassis was very successful in North America. There were three Fran-AM championships and a very attractive winter series.

In 2003 the Eurocup was replaced by Euro Masters Challenge and a World Masters Final was hold by the end of the season in Donington (GB). From 2004 the national championship and Formula Renault 2000 comes out again from 2004 with a fully adequated Eurocup. They have earned a place as part of the Lg-Super-Racing -Weekend programme where Formula Renault V6 Eurocup starts too. A large number of competitors will be expected.

The racing cing car will be equipped with a new bodywork-kit and the engine receives additional power. Formula Renault 2000 increased the value again.
